Treebird Community Market Expansion

Donation protected
Treebird Market is excited to be working on growing our mission driven grocery store in the former Hood River News Building! We serve our community with a full service retail grocery featuring fresh local and organic produce, fresh and smoked meats, a large bulk foods section, and a grab and go deli with drinks on tap, and indoor and outdoor seating to gather and hang out.

Donations in 2022 allowed us to work with our architects, attorneys, and consultants to reach the point where we signed the lease and began work with our design/build team to make this space a reality as we work on raising the $2.5m in debt, equity, and donations.

Some of the high costs we are running into are the city change of use fees inlncuding up to $90k in System Development Charges (direct payment to the city) along with us having to repave half of 6th street, sidewalk, and replace ADA curbs and ramps costing up to another $100K. Your donations have been critical for us to reach this point. If you would like to learn more about helping fund this project through our community loan offerings, please contact us!

You can be a part of building the future of food resilience and a thriving community space by contributing to the vision.

Here are three ways you can support the community market and food hub
1. Donate! Click the “donate” button, any amount of money is helpful and appreciated.
2. Put your dollars to work! We are offering stable annual interest returns for private lendors with flexible options for loans from $500.00 to $200,000+. Contact us to learn more.
3. Shop at Treebird Market! Visit the current store in Hood River on Hwy 35 (Next to Windance), buy a gift card and show your support for local food and this project.

This moment in time lays bare the importance of establishing localized economies as supply chains are fractured and stagnated worldwide. We have demonstrated our operational capacity at our current location and this expanded community market and larger space enables us to more meaningfully support our local food system. We are humbled and grateful for the opportunity to work with the rich network of farmers, processors, and eaters who care so deeply.

We’ve only even gotten this far thanks to the support from our multitude of partners and advisors. We will continue to engage a diverse group of community stakeholders to ensure this space further strengthens the vibrant food economy of the Columbia River Gorge.

Thank you for your contribution to this project. We look forward to working with you and so many in our community to bring this vision to life!
