Community Mutual Aid (BTV CopWatch)
Solidarity, not charity!
This is a particularly difficult time for many members of the (greater) Burlington, Vermont community. BTV CopWatch is raising funds to help those most vulnerable stay healthy, fed, housed, etc.
When we started mutual aid distributions in mid-March, we thought we might go out one or two times to hand out supplies. Now, as of April 7, we've gone out almost every single day for 3+ weeks, we've collaborated with Food Not Bombs Burlington , we've distributed food donations from New Moon & KKDs & August First , we've done multiple supply runs for clothes, toiletries, medicine, and special requests , we've handed out cash, we've done grocery runs for families who are acutely food insecure, we've gotten phone cards to people in need , and we've handed out tons of Know Your Rights flyers.
We wish we could tell you how often every day we see people's faces light up and hear heartfelt "thank you!"s... because in reality all that gratitude is for YOU all, who allow us to do this work.
"This just made my day!"
"You all are the best."
"Wow, this $5 is worth 100 bottles. Thank you!"
"I used that $10 for foot warmers and got the first night's sleep in days!"
We continue to let everyone know that this isn't just us, this is the community taking care of one another. Thank you to all the amazing comrades & donors who have contributed to make all of this possible <3
If we can keep the funds rolling in, we will be able to continue taking care of our fellow community members over the next few weeks. So if you have some extra cash, please consider giving some!
If you are in need of some food or supplies, give a shout!
You can either donate here or (to avoid transaction fees) venmo @jazmojica or paypal [email redacted]
