A big massive THANK YOU to all of you who helped us raise more than our original target, £1,069! Reel Rebels Radio is blown away by the support of our community!!
We hope that we can raise more money and we have updated our target to £2,500 so we can get necessary items and cover all our costs. These items include:
1 x security gate £300
CCTV £220
1 x burglar alarm £229
4 x strong lock £200
1 x locksmith fee £160
CDJs £600
1 x broadcasting desk £800
We hope that those who haven't donated will and that you will all help us share our fundraiser as far and as widely as possible. Please read on...
Reel Rebels Radio Station was founded in Hackney in 2010. A popular community voice, it has through the years passionately supported Hackney's culturally diverse community.
People from all walks of life including adults with learning disabilities and people living with mental health challenges have an opportunity to learn programme-making, DJ'ing, radio broadcasting/ production, and other technical skills.
Last night the studio was burgled. The thief stole some of the radio broadcasting equipment as well as the petty cash tin containing £64.00.
Today Connor, a young DJ with learning disabilities, came to do his regular radio show and couldn't because our CDJ's and 12 channel Yamaha mixer had been stolen. He is very upset but hopeful that the radio station will be up and running again soon.
The thief has not only taken equipment, which is ultimately replaceable but more importantly, they have stolen the joy that some of the most vulnerable members of our community experience when contributing to our radio station.
We need to raise some money to replace the equipment -
These items will make the community radio station workable again and protect it from further damage.
Any amount of donation will be so appreciated. Even unwanted equipment which can be collected.
On behalf of the team at Reel Rebels Radio Station, we give you a heartfelt thank you.
