Relief Fund for Urbano Coffee Company
Since 2007 Brews Brothers Coffee, now Urbano Coffee Company, has been a gathering place for many locals. We have weathered many storms before but this disastrous 2020 has almost taken us out.
At the beginning of the year the owners of the building where we had our coffee shop decided to sell. We could not afford what they were asking so we had to look for somewhere else to go. Immediately after buying a building, COVID hit. Not only did we now face the financial burden of moving and remodeling, but now due to COVID our sales dropped by approximately 70%! To top it off, our well know name Brews Brothers Coffee, was denied trademark... so we had to rebrand. This caused a great number of customers to discontinue their support thinking that we weren’t the same business.
Then one of our employees contracted coronavirus which put us and all of our costumers at risk. So we furloughed all of the employees so they could get unemployment. With just family working we continued to operate at a 20% capacity. This is a death sentence for any business, specially ours with our new mortgage to pay. We tapped into savings and borrowed money. But that only goes so far. With the PPP loan we were able to hire 8 employees and start to get the ball rolling again. But it’s slow, too slow. We are feeling the financial strain and are not sure of how we will pull through. Our priority is to retain the employees that we currently have and stay afloat until we can operate to our full capacity again.
Our goal is set for $10,000. The funding will cover next months mortgage and payroll. We hope the second round of PPP can assist after that.
As difficult as it is to ask, we really need your help. Please help us spread the word by sharing this link. Thank you in advance for your support.
