What is Standley Lake Stargazing?
Standley Lake Stargazing is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit based in Arvada that is committed to bringing the wonders of science and astronomy to the community through telescope nights (star parties) and educational outreach programs that focus on spaceflight, engineering and other STEM topics. Our programs have been hosted by the Jefferson County Public Library System, Standley Lake Regional Park, the Broomfield Public Library and Majestic View Nature Center as well as local parks and other public venues and reach over 500 visitors per year.
Standley Lake Stargazing also offers weekly educational programs covering observing highlights, spaceflight, and our popular Science & Cinema series, and also offers extensive year-round outdoor star parties free to the public, including a weekly summer observing program!
What does this campaign hope to accomplish?
Standley Lake Stargazing’s primary goal is to make these outreach efforts available to the community at large without cost barriers. While all of our volunteers donate their time to our programs, we still have operating costs and equipment purchases which you as the community benefit directly from, including the regular use of our large telescopes that would otherwise be cost prohibitive for many.
Your contributions will help ensure the continued operation of Standley Lake Stargazing and will directly help bring stargazing programs and opportunities to our community.
It’s your support that makes it all possible, we can’t thank you enough!
