On December 30, 2021, over 9,000 acres of land, businesses, and suburban homes in Boulder County were destroyed in the North Fork and Marshall fires. These wildfires spread rapidly and without warning between the suburban cities of Superior and Louisville, CO, fueled by extremely high winds -- some of which were sustained at over 100 miles per hour to create a true 'firestorm'.
The scale of this suburban disaster is now deemed the worst structural loss in Colorado history and it is estimated that ~1,000 families instantly lost their homes that day. Hundreds others suffered major property damage. See the 9 News video posted above and the Denver Post story here for more.

That fateful Thursday afternoon, my boss, fellow team member, and Colorado Dept. of Human Services (CDHS) BITS Data Governance Manager Frank Valdez of Louisville instantly lost his home and two antique trucks parked in his driveway. While he was gratefully able to escape unharmed with his faithful dog, Molly, and is currently staying with family in Littleton, this fund calls on the generosity of friends and community to assist Frank with daily living expenses (toiletries, clothes, mortgage costs, etc.) in an effort to support the rebuilding of his life and property.
Frank is a great guy who is an avid angler and loves music. He plays the guitar, enjoys cooking gourmet food, watching and following sports, and is passionate about restoring antique cars and trucks, all of which were lost in his home and greater neighborhood. His dedication as an employee of CDHS to making Coloradans lives better can only paid forward now by helping him in his time of need.

As a friend and contracted employee of Frank at CDHS, together with the support of our team at work (BITS), I am opening and curating this page. On behalf of our team at CDHS BITS, we all thank you for opening your hearts for Frank and Molly during this difficult time. #MarshallFire #Louisville #BoulderCounty #PeopleWhoHelpPeople
