Community Support for the Petz Family

Friends, Family, and Community,

We are reaching out to you with heavy yet hopeful hearts and an ask for help on behalf of the Petz family. Greg and Madelin (Jensen) Petz, loving parents of two beautiful children, Nila and Marten, have been facing an unimaginable ordeal for the past 18 months that has turned their lives upside down. Greg, a dedicated husband and father, has been experiencing the debilitating effects of long-haul COVID-19 since May 2022. The journey has been largely bedridden since the start, with slow improvements along the way still rendering him incapable of performing normal daily activities. He’s been working hard to gain traction (and is), yet continues to struggle with a slew of cycling symptoms that have made it impossible for him to keep his job as a health inspector or enjoy any semblance of his “normal life”.

Despite seeking help and ongoing treatments from multiple doctors and healers in Eastern and Western medicine, Greg and Madelin are still searching for answers and relief from symptoms. The global understanding around the illness and those affected is still in its infancy, despite about 10 million Americans currently experiencing some version of long Covid. Greg and Madelin are working in a collaborative model with his doctors as they figure out the illness and its varying symptoms together. The journey to understand, communicate, and treat has been confused acceptance at best, and painstaking and depressing at worst.

Madelin has been nothing short of a superhero during this trying time. She is not only supporting her husband through his illness but also raising their two young children. Nila (7 years old) and Marten (3 years old) need their parents now more than ever. Madelin's strength and resilience are awe-inspiring, but even superheroes need help sometimes.

The toll this situation has taken on the Petz family is not just physical and emotional but also financial. The medical bills, ongoing treatments, and daily expenses/bills have used up the majority of their savings. They’ve taken multiple pivotal steps to secure some funds to keep moving forward, and it’s come to a point to find more external support. As friends, family, and members of this community, we have an opportunity to make a difference.

We have set up this fundraising page to rally around the Petz family during this difficult time. Every contribution, no matter how small, will go a long way in helping them cover expenses, essential needs, and ensuring that Nila and Marten have the stability and support they deserve.
