Community Support Needed for Tavonte's Final Farewell

Tavonte, or Tae, as he was affectionately known by his family, although he stood large in stature, was as a gentle giant.

Sadly, Tavonte, who had an enormous heart, filled compassion and love was snatched away from us in a shooting on the city’s east side.

Tae was at the location of the shooting to break up an altercation that involved someone who Tae had great love for.

Now, the ones Tae has left behind are seeking support from the community to help us lay him down for his final rest.

Tavonte was a loving son, brother and devoted father.

He shared a special love with all of his aunts and uncles. His greatest accomplishment was caring for his great uncle, who is also a retired veteran.

In the face of stress, difficulties and challenges, Tae was able to overcome. His goals were high, but above all, he aimed to master himself.

Tae’s untimely and tragic death leaves his family to mourn his short life and all of his future aspirations. He was a 2022 Graduate of Edwin Denby High School and his scholarly and athletic mastery afforded him a scholarship to attend Finlandia University.

He welcomed his only child, Da'Nyla; in April of 2024. Sadly, at only 20 years old, just starting his adult life and career as a CNA, Tae did not have life insurance.

It is with sincere humility that our family seek community support to help properly arrange Tavonte's burial and preserve his legacy through his daughter Da'Nyla.
