Help the Burnleys after Westfield Mall Shooting

TARGET GOAL IS $50,000 ----- AMOUNT MAY BE ADJUSTED AS EXPENSES ARE REALIZED AND IF ADDITIONAL SUPPORT IS NEEDED.

 

On November 24th, as families were preparing for the Thanksgiving holiday, Josiah Burnley (age 18) and his girlfriend (age 17 - as a minor, identifying information withheld) were victims of a senseless act of violence and shot multiple times outside of Westfield Shopping Center where they had been shopping with their family.

 

Josiah was struck at least 7x - including to the spine and other vital organs.

The young victims were rushed to Harborview and received life saving treatment and surgeries to stop the internal bleeding. Through the power of prayer, Josiah and his girlfriend made it through the surgeries to save their lives - but the extent of the continued damage is unknown with head, neck, spinal and internal injuries.

Josiah and his entire family have given of themselves to our greater Renton community --- through ministery and outreach, service and support. Jeanine (Josiah's mother) leads Agape Love Minsteries --- and together they do outreach to our neighbors who are unhoused, providing meals to those less fortunate, cook holiday meals to distribute to those on the streets and in shelters and provide unconditional love to anyone they encounter.

 

Their road to recovery will be a long one and will require medical support and familial support for Josiah with the rest of his life ahead of him. He will have medical expenses, living expenses and will require 24/7 care in at least the beginning stages.

 

It's time for the community to reach out in support for these people who have given their lives for others with all that they do and provide for them so they can focus on surviving, recovery, healing and whatever tomorrow may hold.
