If you’re a member of the VK Greer Memorial Public School’s fantastic community of people, you will have seen the Kindergarten program at work. Who could miss them? The Kindy playground is the first thing that greets visitors as they drive up to the school. The professionals who make up the Kindergarten program at VK Greer are highly regarded within our community and are faced with the restrictions of the current Kindy outdoor space. The kindergarten playground at VK Greer is a tired framework that needs new imagination. Playgrounds are meant to spur creativity and wonder and to promote health and laughter because they are an extension of the classroom.
We can create an impactful change as a community to honour those within the Kindy program right now. The proposed improvements that will make a huge impact are small/medium scale landscaping and removal/installation of various medium-sized structures, the creation of themed stations, outdoor storage areas, smart seating and tables and environmentally friendly outdoor toys. As we look to the future, a larger structure may be required.
I choose to contribute to the development of the kids in our community by providing them with a greater range of equipment to explore, helping shape their creativity, and joy of play and prepare them for success. Could you stand with me?
On November 6, 2022, I am running the 2nd Annual Mary Lake Marathon to raise awareness and support for the Kindergarten program and playground, at VK Greer Memorial Public School. Proceeds from this initiative will be donated to the VK Greer Parent Council, for use on improvements as seen fit by the Kindergarten program.
