Eddie Meidunas is in Need of Aggressive Treatments Against Stage IV Cancer

Eddie Meidunas is a former officer, Lt Colonel (ret.), with the US Air Force serving his country for 22 years with an honorable discharge in 2017.
To add, for the past 7 years, he has been Mr. Mom to his two sons -  Joseph, now 21 and Max, 16.

At 45, Eddie in the midst of working a full time job now as a Space Systems Engineer, going to school to earn his MBA at night and being a single parent, started feeling pain in his abdomen and found it increasingly more difficult to eat. He was given a preliminary cancer diagnosis in Mid-November 2018.   After months of appointments, exploratory endoscopys, and surgery to relieve the fluid build up in his lungs, what is turning out to be an evasive diagnosis has resulted in lost time to treat Eddie and in the interim, he continues to have major pain, issues eating, and weight loss is a serious concern.

His cancer has been a mysterious, aggressive and stealthy intruder.

Although they are still pinpointing the exact type this stage IV cancer is, Eddie will be given the beginnings of a vigorous treatment protocol from his new doctor and progressive team - using Functional Medicine- while continuing to keep a sharp eye on this and proceeding with necessary exploration and extended biopsies starting next week (end of January 2019).

Despite the revelation of this daunting condition, his friends and colleagues alike have witnessed him remain upbeat and remarkably dedicated to his work, of which, he will soon need to step aside from.

Overcoming odds we may be faced with truly involves the best attention to Mind, Body, and Spirit

The upcoming treatment protocol added by his new Oncologist has been long overdue. Eddie is thankful to be moving forward.

There is a sense of urgency at this time.  This is what we are told.
Eddie has moved from the network at a former Hospital to the care of Dr. Andrew Hendifar and the spectacular team at the
Samuel Oschin Comprehensive Cancer Center at Cedar Sinai Hospital.

                                                  4 Stages of Cancer Diagnosis:

     Stage 1 -
This usually means that a cancer is relatively small and contained within the organ it started in.

     Stage 2 -
This usually means the cancer has not started to spread into surrounding tissue but the tumour is larger than in stage 1.  Sometimes stage 2 means that cancer cells have spread into lymph nodes close to the tumour. This depends on the particular type of cancer.

     Stage 3 -
Usually means the cancer is larger. It may have started to spread into surrounding tissues and there are cancer cells in the lymph nodes in the area.

     Stage 4 -
Means the cancer has spread from where it started to another body organ. This is also called secondary or metastatic cancer.

FUNCTIONAL MEDICINE
