Community Woodland project

We live in the beautiful county of Leitrim in the North West of Ireland.   We are tired of land being bought up and planted with mono culture sitka spruce which does not provide good habitat for birds and insects or a feel good factor for humans.  We want to provide a habitat for all the animals and birds and somewhere tranquil for people to enjoy.  Everyone who donates will own a little piece of land.  We want to populate the land with native tree species and prove that deciduous and native trees should be planted here.

We are friends who care about the environment.   We have backgrounds in organic gardening and farming and one of us is currently planting up a woodland project.  

This is an exciting project.  We just want everyone to know that if we are unable to purchase land for whatever reason, we will refund every donation.  We will keep everyone in the loop so everyone who had donated will have a say in what happens with the funds.

Some of the ideas are to sell trees in memory of someone who has passed away,  to celebrate a new life, to show someone you love them or just a different birthday or Christmas present.  


Who am I?  My name is Lyn Brookes, I live in County Leitrim,  Nr Dromahair.  People would know me well round here., this is a small community.  Am I trustworthy? I like to think so.  I have enough money of my own to live off, in a very simple way.  I would just love to see the community able to own something, no grants, no big multi national corporations and no bullshit.  Sometimes, you just have to trust people and I hope you feel you can trust me.
