Commuter cyclist hit by a car.
Donation protected
My name is Jason, I’m fundraising to be able to pay off mounting medical bills and oral surgeries insurance will not cover. I am the beverage director for a local Boulder restaurant, I often bike commute to and from my job to stay away from traffic and it is usually much faster. On Thursday May 19th I was biking home after work when a car ran through a light from a far right lane without signaling to turn left, the car struck me, this occurred in Boulder on 13th and Spruce street. I was able to see lights coming quickly from my peripheral and slammed my brakes but was unable to avoid the accident.
I was hospitalized for 6 days for injuries, broken and fractured ribs, fractured T-10 vertebrae, injury to my spleen membrane, left dislocated shoulder, fractured hyoid. Shattered lower Jaw, fractured upper jaw, and lost many teeth.
When these accidents occur you do not have the option of the emergency hospital you will be taken to, wether that Hospitol will be covered by a provider or not, I learned very quickly emergency oral surgeries are not covered. I am insured however a lot of the emergency care will need to be paid, many of the oral surgeries I require to regain normalcy need to be paid mostly up front and will not be covered by my insurance. Anything helps and would be greatly appreciated by me and my wife. Any donations not used will be donated to funds for other injured cyclists and other charities that support local health and medical research. Thank you for your support.
