As many of you know, my beautiful Mum, Vicki Smith has been battling breast cancer for the best part of 4 years. Mum’s original prognosis was not great, but we have fought hard to get her the best treatment and professors in the country. It has been an uphill battle, and continues to be today. During this time, we’ve seen her go into remission, but recently, we’ve seen the cancer change its course and progress. Mum has gone through 3 intense courses of chemotherapy, endless amounts of scans, tests and loads of other invasive treatments.
Mum is currently undergoing chemotherapy as her cancer has progressed to her bones, liver and brain.
As I’m sure you can appreciate, the bills are starting to rack up. At present, mums having chemo fortnightly, drains for her stomach and not to mention regular scans and travel costs on top. To give you an idea, everytime she has a brain scan it is $450 in which she is not entitled to any kind of levy or rebate, even though she is a private patient with top cover.
So, to help take the pressure off just a little, I’ve decided to shave my head to show my support for her and in doing so, I hope that my friends and family can show their support and donate as little or as much as they can.
For 4 years, we have had so much kindness around us with people constantly asking what they can do to help...so, here it is.... If you can help, we would be forever grateful.
The shave will take place on Sunday 27th May during a major fundraising event, which we will unveil in the next few days. Thank you for your support.
