Compass Coffee United Mutual Aid Fund

Compass Coffee United is a worker-led union for the employees of Compass Coffee. We are unionizing at seven locations across D.C. and Virginia. Baristas at these locations have experienced retaliation from management for their union support and for standing up to managers over illegal retaliatory actions. Many of us have had our hours cut or our shifts have been rescheduled outside of our availability. This has severely impacted our weekly take-home pay, especially for those who have been reduced to one or two shifts a week after being full-time employees. For some of us, this hardship has affected our ability to pay our bills and support ourselves and our families.

We are seeking to create a mutual aid fund to support workers who are suffering retaliation from Compass Coffee. Funds will be distributed on a need-based system. We will prioritize those who require medical, childcare, and rental assistance. Distributions will be approved by an elected Treasurer and Controller on a case-by-case basis.

We have experienced an outpouring of support from our community throughout this campaign. We hope we can count on you to help us get through financial hardship until we can restore our hours and schedules.
