Compassion London
We are professionals cooking free meals for London’s key workers, children and most vulnerable people.
What a time we live in. With all these empty kitchens and so many skilled workers at home, our founder Leon Aarts thought that collectively we could do something.
Compassion London is a group of professional chefs, foodies and people who generally care based in the kitchens of the Yum Yum Food Company in North London. We have come together to cook and deliver free or donation based healthy, nutritious and delicious meals for those who need it during this crisis.
Leon has done it before. In 2015 he started Calais Kitchens as a way to bring food to the thousands who were left without food during the refugee crisis. Now, we will bring food to those affected by COVID-19.
We have a large professional kitchen ready to cook meals specially for:
- NHS and support workers
- vulnerable children and their families
- those who have no support
With your help we will prepare, cook and deliver thousands of meals every day. The Yum Yum Food Company, leading caterers for nurseries and schools has opened its kitchen for this important cause.
We have a team of chefs, delivery drivers and support staff ready to go.
Now, we need you.
Getting a meal to someone in need costs about £2. One donation of just £ 10 gives will let us provide 5 meals. £100 will help us feed at least 50 children a hot delicious meal.
We need your donations to keep Compassion London going and to help many those without the means to help themselves.
With your help we can buy great ingredients, we can pay for delivery vans the keep the kitchen running smoothly.
Your money will go a long way!!
We want to collaborate. We would love to work with groups set up to deal with the distribution of our meals in different areas, or if you are a coordinator please get in touch.
Really, if you want to support us in any way – please get in touch. There is no limit to what we can do, we have a lot of people ready to help out and other kitchens on standby in case we get overwhelmed as demand grows.

Annabel Karmel, London-based children’s cookery author and supporter of Compassion London, said she was “hugely concerned” about the undeniable impact of nursery, school and business closures on the most vulnerable families and individuals.
Together with Leon Aarts, she is calling on the public to help play a prominent role in ensuring that regular nutritious, hot meals are provided during the crisis. Key workers, particularly those working for the NHS, have also been deemed a priority by the charity.
“Hot school meals are a lifeline for children, and with so many families facing immediate food poverty, we need to act fast. Many key workers are also dedicating their lives right now to helping the sick and vulnerable, with no time or means of feeding themselves. We need to fuel these individuals so that they can do their jobs effectively” said Leon.
Thank you for your support.
Compassion London is a restricted fund under the auspices of Prism the Gift Fund, registered charity no 1099682.
