Compassionate Release for Paul Volkman

Donation protected

Jane's father Paul is serving a life sentence in federal prison in Coleman, Florida.  We plan to hire an attorney to file for Compassionate Release. Paul is 73 years old, is a kind man and a model prisoner, has numerous medical challenges and has been violently assaulted several times during his imprisonment.  We want for him to live out his days with us at our home, with his grandchildren by his side.

This is not a man that deserves to die in prison. He is not responsible for anyone's death. He is a kind and loving grandfather. Our children John, Naomi and Daniel all know him, have a relationship with him and love him dearly.  It is our heart's deepest wish for him to be home with us in peace, surrounded by his loved ones, with no fear...  No worry about assaults and no abusive treatment from prison guards.

Throughout these several years of his imprisonment, we have prayed for him, spoken with him sometimes daily, and written letters, sent pictures and have visited him many times in Terre Haute Indiana and also in Coleman Florida. We could tell many stories about abuse he experienced, from angry guards retaliating against him by taking his small mattress to stripping him almost naked and leaving him in an outside cage all night to suffer in the cold.  He has experienced abuse and violence from several inmates, some in Terre Haute Indiana and some in Coleman Florida. Many of these incidents have been documented.  Our hearts have broken many times reading these accounts in his letters, and hearing him tell these accounts himself with his own voice. I can't tell you all how gut wrenching it can be to listen to an elderly man who lived his entire life serving others, loving his family and saving lives explain in detail how younger, healthy men hit him, beat him, struck him without any provocation, and tell these stories with absolute fear in his voice, with anxiety dripping from every word that was so intense you could feel it in your soul.  This. Man. Does. Not. Deserve. This.

Paul is a man who lived a life of honor. He raised two children and sent them both to great universities. He lived most of his life serving others as a physician. He stood by his wife Nancy and was by her side when she died of brain cancer.  In April of last year (2019), Paul accepted Yeshua (Jesus) as his Lord and Savior and has been praying and studying the Holy Bible for the last year.  He is a kind and faithful man and he has a family that loves and supports him.

It is our sincere hope that this time next year Paul will be here in our living room with Daniel on his lap, reading him stories about lions, tigers, spiders and bears. That he will be dancing with Naomi, and helping John with his homeschool studies. That we will be praying together, singing in church together, and listening to music together.  We intend to care for him here and this will be his home with us.

I ask you friends and family that read this, and also any people that have stumbled upon this entreaty to please consider donating to this cause. We are not a family of wealth or great financial means.  We cannot afford to hire this attorney on our own. Any donation will be of vital importance and of great help and assistance to us.  I ask you please consider helping us in this cause. We love Paul and we want him home with us.

The attorney we intend to hire is Ron Chapman, who believes Paul is a good candidate for compassionate release. Ron's website can be found here:  https://www.chapmanlawgroup.com/attorney/ronald_chapmanii/ He has a long successful track record in getting doctors released in similar cases.

We are also writing a request for pardon, but this is highly unlikely to succeed.  Yet, we are people who believe in miracles. We believe in God and Paul does too.  Please help us to do this.  Please pray with us for his release.

I ask you also to please pray for Paul, even if you cannot contribute financially.  We believe in a God that performs miracles. We believe in a God that loves each of us.  So does Paul.  Please help us to free him and bring him home to his family that loves him.

Et Shem Yeshua.....  Amen.
