Cones Against Covid

In an effort to appreciate and encourage children ages 5-11 to join the ranks of people getting vaccinated against Covid-19, we're raising funds, 100% of which will go to Ron's Ice Cream in Hyde Park and Dedham, so that children under 12 with a vaccination card will receive a free ice cream with one free topping. The number of children who will be able to receive free cones will depend on how much we raise ($5 sponsors one cone, see added funding details below).

 

This is an opportunity to support kids who are doing their part not just to protect themselves but also the broader community. Thinking of all the delicious ingredients that go into Ron's hand-made ice cream, it's fitting to "chip in." The famous Disney song "a spoon full of sugar" was written based on how polio vaccine was administered...with a sugar cube. Here's our chance to "sweeten the pot" and support kids ages 5-11 to get the jab and help our community return to greater normalcy.

 

About the funds: 100% of proceeds raised here will go directly to Ron's which will supply qualifying children (i.e. ages 5-11 with proof of first vaccination) with a free ice cream with topping.  Ron's is providing the desserts at a discounted rate so that more kids can get a reward. This GoFundMe platform takes a 2.9% fee plus .30 cents from each transaction. Those who prefer to do so can make a direct donation at Ron's. As the organizer of this page, I have no direct connection to Ron's ice cream other than as an appreciative customer. We will keep this effort going as long as funds hold out (the number of children ages 5-11 in Southwest Boston and surrounding communities is significant).
