The Congo Expedition
Our goal is to raise approximately fifty percent of the funds necessary to produce a documentary exposing the day-to-day realities in Kinsasha and Goma in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
The D.R.C., formerly known as Zaire, is well known for three things: the Rumble In the Jungle prizefight between George Foreman and Muhammadi Ali, decades war and fighting, and an abundance of mineral wealth.
Since the outbreak of fighting in 1998, over five million people have died, mostly from preventable illnesses. Of these five million, forty-seven percent were children. The prolonged fighting has killed approximately 45,000 every month and there seems to be no end in sight.
We'll film and photograph our interactions with the natives and provide insight to the suffering they endure. Also, we'll explore how Muslim and Christian villages live side-by-side, sometimes peacefully, sometimes with deadly consequences.
