Congo Healing Program

A teenage mom we care for in Mumosho, DRC.
Hello, I’m Victoria Bentley, a clinical psychologist from the San Francisco bay area who has been doing philanthropic work in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) since 2008.
Mostly, my non-profit, Empower Congo Women, helps women and girls who have been raped and left pregnant with no means of support. Congo is a pretty rough place, so these young women and their kids have little chance of surviving, let alone living a decent life without our help.
This is my second campaign on Gofundme.com. The first one was a great success! I want to offer my heart-felt thanks to all the donors who gave so generously to others less fortunate than themselves.
Donations from the first campaign made it possible for me to return to Congo in September, 2015, where I taught peer counselors how to heal trauama in victims of sexual abuse and rape. The donations also paid counselor salaries for 6 months, which has allowed them to help people suffering from trauma at no cost. This is a huge gift to this war-torn area of eastern Congo where so many people suffer grieviously.
Now I am asking for your support again, so we can continue to pay salaries and train 4 more peer counselors.
All donations are tax-deductible. I will send a note to that effect from Empower Congo Women , my 501(c)3 non-profi organization, in your thank-you note.
Not everyone is meant to get on a plane bound for Africa to heal trauma. But if you are moved to take action to stop violence against women, and to empower the women and girls to thrive after tragedy, you can do just that with your financial gift.
Thank you for hearing my story and I so appreciate any contribution you can make at this time.
Many blessings,
Mama Vicki
