Congressional Gold Medal Awards Ceremony
Donation protected
My name is Dominador Tomate, Secretary for the Filipino American National Historical Society ("FANHS"), Delano Chapter.
On August 6, 2022, our organization will be honoring veterans or their surviving family members to receive a bronze replica of the Congressional Gold Medal. In accordance with Public Law 114-265, the Filipino Veterans of World War II Congressional Gold Medal Act of 2015 awards a Congressional Gold Medal (CGM) collectively to the Filipino Veterans of World War II, in recognition of their outstanding wartime achievements and honorable service to the United States during World War II. Awardees who served in the Philippines include U.S. Army Forces in the Far East (USAFFE), U.S. Marine Corps, U.S. Navy, U.S. Coast Guard, or Recognized Guerrilla Forces (service to have taken place during the period of July 26, 1941, to December 31, 1946).
We ask your help to cover this honored event's costs, including the venue, medal replicas, copies of the Public Law 114-265 and programming expenses.
On October 25, 2017, the house speaker, Paul Ryan, formally presented the congressional gold medal to veterans at the emancipation hall, Capitol Hill, Washington, D.C.
Following the ceremony, the original medal was taken to the Smithsonian Institution for future display. It is also the goal of FilVetRep to develop an education program to complement the Congressional Gold Medal and educate the American public on the history and worthiness of sacrifice made by the Veterans in earning their recognition with the medal. The interminable cost of their mission and brutal ordeal to defend the United States and Philippines were unprecedented. They had guaranteed their mission with their lives, and in full measure to defend and save their country against a formidable and inhumane enemy.
The Congressional Gold Medal (CGM) is an award bestowed by Congress and is the highest civilian award in the United States. The decoration is awarded to an individual or unit who performs an outstanding deed or act of service to the security, prosperity, and national interest of the United States. Since the American Revolution, Congress has commissioned gold medals as its highest expression of national appreciation for distinguished achievements and contributions. Each award can honor a particular individual, institution, or event
I want to thank you for your kind support and donations to honor these exceptional individuals who represented an essential part of American History.
