Conner was an amazing young man loved by all...

University of WA Freshman, Rainier Beach High School Graduate - Class of 2019 , Senior Class President, Football Captain, Honor Student, and Mentor.  He was active in his school and community; tutoring in the Link Crew Program and teaching suicide prevention at Rainier Beach High School.  He used his time to build relationships, enjoy life, learn, compete, defend, and motivate others.  He knew how to make you smile.

He was such a nice kid!  Not only was he handsome and athletic, but he was caring, smart and fun to be around.  Conner, destined for greatness, planned to become an attorney in order to use his skill and influence to fight for social justice in his community.  He was a true Beach Boy; A Southend Kid who just happened to have blue eyes, blondish hair, and a heart stopping smile.  He was a beautiful soul who wanted nothing more than to give back to the community he loved, and that loves him.

On Mother's Day, May 10, Conner was taken from us.  He was shot just outside of his home in the Rainier Beach area.  While covered in his blood, his mother watched him take his last breath.   A horrific and terrible pain that no parent should ever have to endure.  The entire community is in mourning.

Financial Petition

No parent should ever hold their child as they die in their arms; to bury their 18-year old son. Tragically, James and Alicia Dassa are living this heartbreak.  Their precious son, Conner, was taken from us while in the prime of his life; suddenly, without warning.  There was no chance to brace themselves for this shattering blow.

Please join us as we form a circle of love and support around the Dassa family as they lay their precious son Conner to rest. We are asking for donations to help cover funeral expenses.  Conner will be laid to rest next to his cousin at Greenwood Memorial Park & Funeral Home.  We hope to raise $40,000.00 to cover the funeral mass, burial, casket, and lawn crypt expenses.

We pray you give generously, to relieve the Dassas of the financial burden as they navigate through the emotional devastation.  We hope they receive donations above and beyond funeral expenses, to delay Jimi and Alicia returning to work immediately when they are grieving so deeply.  Additionally, we hope to seed the youth anti-violence campaign Conner's life has inspired.  Together, we can enable the parents to have a little time at home with their surviving children: Alexander, Dante, Kauleta, and Keira, as they try to put their lives back together. God bless you.

Please DONATE generously, leave a COMMENT, SHARE this link, and check back for updates.

Conner's body will be laid to rest in a space almost as beautiful as his smile.  The expenses are expected to exceed $30K.  Any funds exceeding the funeral and interment cost will be used to sustain the family during their time of grief, then poured into a non-profit initiative dedicated to finding solutions to youth violence.  Conner would have wanted to help others.  As many of you know, the southend of Seattle has experienced  extreme tragedy and loss of precious young lives.  As Conner's mother stated,  "We have to do better."  Conner's death will serve as a catalyst for much needed change in hopes that we can, "Save someone else's baby from being murdered in the street."

Message From the Family
We want to thank you for all the heartfelt condolences.  The flowers, food, visits, cards, tributes have brought us a sense of love and solace during this most difficult time.  We love you and we appreciate your love for Conner and our family. We are all very heartbroken, and have found some comfort in coming together on one accord for Conner.    We have plenty of food and love to share with you, and welcome your visits and various contributions.  A special thank you to both O'Dea High School and Rainier Beach High School for your continuous support.  We love you.
