From Update #2, written by Dylan. The story now...
Keith and I had sixteen days with our daughter, Connor Maeve. Connor was born the night of December 6th and immediately transported to Seattle Children’s NICU - nothing can prepare you for having your baby taken away without knowing what is happening or what the outcome will be. There is also no easy way to accept hearing “we cannot answer why this happened.” We knew life was never going to be the same and that all we could do was be there for Connor - we loved her fiercely for those sixteen days. Connor passed very early this morning, she was in my arms and Keith was right by our side. This became an anticipated outcome due to the extent of her injury, and as much denial as we were in that the time would come, it inevitably did and it was on her terms. In the midst of so much unknown a GoFundMe was created that spread the news of Connor like wildfire. A wave of love and support came from near and far, and we are so appreciative of everyone’s generosity - there really are no words to express our gratitude. Your kind words and desire to help never went unnoticed and truly helped us through what will be the darkest time of our life. Keith and I are hurting, and will be for a long time, but we have also learned how strong we are as a team and know that in time we will be okay. I wish I could have been sharing a different result and that miracles were real. Connor made the biggest impact on this world in her short sixteen days of life, and I will embody her energy and strength - believe me when I tell you our girl was a fighter. Thank you again for being there for us. Now it’s time to heal️"
Original story - Connor Maeve Gordon came into our world on December 6th, 2022 at 9:39 pm weighing 6lbs 13 oz. A beautiful baby girl with lots of dark hair. A moment that should have brought complete joy. But this birth came with many complications. Connor wasn’t breathing, and amidst all the chaos, Dylan had to be rushed to the OR for hemorrhaging and emergency surgery. Since that horrific day, it’s been a living nightmare.
It has been confirmed that Connor sustained a life-threatening irreversible brain injury. We don’t know what the outcome will be and unfortunately, there are no timelines that can be provided. Dylan and Keith’s lives are now on hold waiting to see what the future brings. Connor is under the care of some of the most capable, intelligent, compassionate, and patient medical staff at Seattle Children’s Hospital who have been so helpful in our understanding of her condition. We know that Connor is comfortable and extremely well taken care of.
Many of you have offered your help and support and it is appreciated so much. We do know there are some unexpected expenses, medical and otherwise. We don’t know what the extent of their burden will be, ultimately, but wanted to set up this fund to help lessen that burden as it comes so Dylan and Keith can have one less thing to think about and can focus on their family.
Dylan and Keith want you to know how much your support and outpouring of love means to them and how appreciative they are to know that their little girl means as much to everyone as she does to them.
Thank you all for your thoughts and any donation you are able to make.
Much Love,
Dylan and Keith's Family
