Connor Reilly’s Road to Recovery
Donation protected
This is Connor Reilly, who is a local East Islip beloved community HERO! He is a BRAVE, energetic 11 year old boy, committed Lacrosse player, fortnight extraordinaire, intelligent student, a hero of a friend, little and big brother to 3 his sisters, Caite, Leah and Jordyn, and is a loving son. This is his story, in hopes to be shared by all, as we eagerly reach this very large goal!
On Tuesday, May 16, after taking the appropriate and necessary precautions at the crosswalk, Connor and his friend began to cross the street. In that split second, Connor pushed his dear friend out of harms way before he was struck by a car.
After a few days under the care of Pediatric Specialist’ at Stonybrook Hospital, Connor returned home to wait in a wheelchair with bed rest. The family is waiting for approvals and funds for a ramp so he can be safely transported to Doctors appointments, or even just to be pushed on a stroll to enjoy this nice weather! He is currently being carried up and down a set of steps by his petite Mother. Connor is also waiting approval for PT, OT, Nurse and Therapist to come to the home to start working with his physical, developmental and emotional needs, as well as speech services.
Erin, Connors Mom, is a single mother of 3 to Caite, who is 15, and being very helpful and supportive, and Leah, a very rambunctious 1.5 year old. It has been very difficult and sometimes impossible for Mom to leave the home for basic needs such as groceries, supplies, etc., for the need of staying by Connor’s side. Mom has been a Warrior throughout this process and honestly, she’s doing the damn thing!
However, the added burden of financial need is worrisome. After being home with her new baby, Erin was eager to go back to work, and found the perfect job! Untimely, she got word that she got the job after Connor’s accident.
With the family now facing despair, years of recovery ahead, expenses we cannot even imagine or take for granted, Connor’s family NEEDS OUR HELP!
I know this
