Conor King Fundraiser in Aid of WCRR

Thank you for taking the time to visit this memorial page for our beloved friend and colleague, Conor King. In his memory, the staff (past and present) at Rochestown Park Hotel Leisure Centre will be running a charity ‘Swimathon’. Proceeds of this event are in aid of West Cork Rapid Response. Participation is open to all.

West Cork Rapid Response (WCRR) is an entirely voluntary group working in partnership with the HSE National Ambulance Service (NAS). The responders are all existing emergency personnel who voluntarily support their community by responding to life and limb-threatening emergencies at the request of the NAS. The rapid response vehicles and volunteers are equipped to provide prehospital critical care support and advanced life support. In 2021, WCRR attended to 330 patients, an exponential increase from previous years.

We are so grateful for the support WCRR gave Conor and his family in their time of need.

To capture Conor’s love for swimming, a ‘Swimathon’ will take place on Sunday the 3rd of April. The objective of this Swimathon is to swim a relay-style marathon (42km) within 8-10 hours. The Swimathon will be a ticketed event, with a link to the Eventbrite soon to be posted.

Conor had a great passion for all things water. Growing up, he swam competitively with Sunday’s Well and had an adoration for surfing. Conor began working in the Leisure Centre at the age of 18 and had a kind reputation, always giving great time to staff and members alike. He was a dependable, laid back, free spirit, fondly known as the ‘Fishking’ among staff in the Leisure Centre. Conor earned his name from the great care he took of the Leisure Centre Fishtank, decorated in his honour today. Not a day goes by without staff looking at the tank and thinking of you, Conor. He is missed dearly by all staff and members alike.
