Conors Cancer Journey.

Hello, my name is Conor and I'm starting this GoFundMe to simply ask for help. In November 2021 I was diagnosed with stage four cancer out of the blue. With a prognosis of 8 weeks - two years the news sent a shockwave through me and my loved ones' lives. However, this news sent me on a journey of self-discovery like no other. I decided to do whatever it took to survive this and live the life I've always dreamed of, a life in Australia. It had been my dream for a decade to make a life here and I wasn't about to let this stop me. I underwent 9 months of chemotherapy before deciding to leave it behind and push forward myself. The love and support given to me by my partner Mary was unwavering. January 2023 we made the move to Sydney in pursuit of the life we wanted, and I have to say it's been all we hoped and more.

This move in pursuit of our dream did exactly what we intended, I healed from my cancer to be given the all-clear in October 2023. I can't express the feeling I felt when I heard those words said to me.

Unfortunately however after a bout of illness, I've recently been diagnosed with cancer again. Clearly, there is still more for me to learn, deeper areas of my life I need to dig into to find my healing once again.

Due to this current circumstance, I am once again out of work not knowing when I'll be able to go back as I'm a carpenter by occupation which is now something I cannot physically do.

My partner is having to work full time to help keep things going for us financially but as anybody knows Sydney is not the place to be out of work.

With all our family on the other side of the world, we have thought about returning to England but that seems like a defeat, we came here following our dream of wanting a better life, and we got to taste it for a sweet moment. It's a feeling I will never forget and one I still feel when I step outside each day.

I want to use my journey to help others realise that you can overcome obstacles in your life no matter how great or small. I will be documenting my journey and recovery in the hopes of inspiring others out there. I have already done this once and I'm more determined than ever to do it again, I will stop at nothing to live that dream life and to one day have a family of my own.

So here I am asking for help to aid me in this journey, the money will go towards our living costs to help take the pressure off my partner and me in the hope that it gives me time to really heal.

This is just the beginning of another great chapter of my life, one where I will come out stronger on the other side.
