Hello,

My name is Juliana McCormick and I'm Conrad and Loretta's niece. I'm fundraising for the Damann family to help lay Conrad to rest. Conrad was, and is, and always will be loved by all who was ever blessed to know him. Conrad always had a funny joke or a great story to tell. If you knew Conrad then you knew that most of his stories had a funny shock and awe ending, but his goal was always to make others laugh, and making others laugh is exactly what he was good at. The joy that he has brought this world will never be forgotten, nor will he.

This fundraiser is in loving memory of Conrad "Connie" Damann, whose journey began on August 11th, 1941, until he was led to heaven on February 19th, 2024. Conrad was the eldest brother of three, where he was raised against the backdrop of Munz Ranch in Lake Hughes, California. Nurtured and shaped by the rugged beauty of his surroundings his love for tractors and dozers began. Conrad's path intertwined deeply with the fire service, igniting a passion that would blaze brightly for over three decades. Conrad embarked on his noble journey with the California Department of Forestry (Cal Fire) in 1972 until 1986. Thereafter, Conrad joined the Ventura County Fire Department, where his tireless commitment continued to help the community he served until his well-deserved retirement in March 2009.

Conrad had an unwavering devotion for firefighting, and it was not merely a profession, but more so a calling. His wife Loretta will attest that Conrad never truly retired, for his love and dedication remained forever with his bothers and sisters of the Forestry and The Ventura County Fire Department. For over 37 years, Conrad poured his soul into protecting and serving his community, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew him. His legacy is one of courage, compassion, and unwavering commitment, and a friend to all.

It is the hope of the family that we can gather along with 300 friends, colleagues, and family who have been touched by his warmth, kindness, and steadfast presence. Together, honoring his memory, cherishing the moments we shared and the lives he touched along the way, as we bid farewell one last time.
