Constable Rick O'Brien Memorial Bench

On Sept. 22, 2023, Cst. Rick O'Brien was killed in the line of duty. Rick had a smile that could light up a room. He was a loving father, son, brother and husband and was a dedicated member of the Ridge Meadows RCMP detachment. He was passionate about working with youth and serving his community wherever possible. Rick was an Educational Assistant in Chilliwack for many years and often took RCMP shifts here, visiting kids in district schools.

In memory of Rick, and in honour of his service, we would like to purchase a memorial bench on behalf of his children. The bench will be located in a local park in Chilliwack for all to enjoy. The cost is $2200, which includes installation and maintenance for 10 years. Any funds raised beyond the goal will go towards a bursary in Rick's name to be awarded to a graduating student pursuing a career working with at-risk youth.
