Biddeford – Constant Kashala Bamani, 69 of Biddeford, ME, passed away at his home on November 23, 2023. He was born on October 21, 1954 in Kalima, Democratic Republic of the Congo, the son of Joseph and Marie Josephine (Muzinga) Demeestere.

Constant was educated in the Democratic Republic of Congo and Belgium where he earned degrees in chemistry. In 2000, Constant, his wife and his four children immigrated to Portland, Maine. Upon arriving in the US, Constant started the journey to obtain bachelors and masters degrees from the University of Southern Maine.

Constant was a beloved chemistry teacher at Biddeford High School where he taught for 13 years. His love of teaching started in 1979 where he first began teaching students in the Congo. Constant was active in Maine’s Congolese and immigrant communities.

Constant is survived by his wife Marie Jeanne Bamani, brothers Gilbert and Lucien Bamani of the Congo and sister Godelieve Demeestere of Belgium and their children, Constant’s children: Joseph and wife Ly of Biddeford, Michel and wife Elke of Boston, Linda from Biddeford and Godelieve and husband Joseph of Virginia. Constant was beloved by his five grandchildren, Vanessa, Angela, Valentina, Tresor and Lucas, and by his many nieces and nephews.
