Construção de uma casa de banho na Escola HBS

. Somos 4 voluntárias que estivemos  em missão na Guiné Bissau e em nome de todos os alunos, vimos pedir ajuda para uma causa urgente e de grande relevância.

A Escola Humberto Braima Sambú é uma escola situada no bairro militar na Guiné-Bissau, que nasceu com a missão de democratizar o acesso ao ensino num país fortemente marcado por greves e falta de oportunidades para estudar e aprender. No ano letivo 2024/2025 a escola comporta cerca de 1000 alunos, desde o 1° ao 12° ano.

 

Atualmente, os alunos não têm acesso a instalações sanitárias adequadas no recinto escolar, tendo de recorrer a alternativas insalubres. Muitos residem longe da escola, não sendo viável que vão a casa.

Esta situação precária tem, naturalmente, um impacto negativo na dignidade e saúde de quem frequenta a escola, dificultando profundamente o aproveitamento destas crianças e jovens,uma vez que a falta de condições básicas afeta,naturalmente, a sua motivação.

Surge uma preocupação acrescida relativamente às jovens, que entram e já estão na adolescência, que têm ainda mais necessidades deste cerne nesta idade.

A construção de uma casa de banho na escola é, portanto, fulcral.

. We are four volunteers on mission in Guinea-Bissau and, on behalf of all the students, we have come to ask for help for an urgent and very important cause. 

 The Humberto Braima Sambú School is a school located in the military district of Guinea-Bissau, which was born with the mission of democratizing access to education in a country heavily marked by strikes and a lack of opportunities to study and learn. In the 2024/2025 school year, the school has around 1,000 students, from 1st to 12th grade. 

 Currently, students do not have access to adequate sanitary facilities on school grounds and have to resort to unsanitary alternatives. Many live far away from the school and it is not feasible for them to go home.

 This precarious situation naturally has a negative impact on the dignity and health of those who attend school, making it very difficult for these children and young people to thrive, since the lack of basic conditions naturally affects their motivation. There is an added concern for girls entering and already in their teens, who have even greater needs at this age. 

 The construction of a toilet in the school is therefore crucial. We're counting on you, help us help!
