Consultation and Laser Surgery Frenectomy

Hi, my name is Susan Flores I’m a widow of seven years I have an autistic daughter who’s been in early intervention since she’s been nine months old was diagnosed with autism. She’s been in Feeding Therapy occupational therapy, physical therapy speech therapy she’s made major improvements just her speech and definitely her feeding issues are still the same, she goes to the extended school year program and they had found a Feeding therapist for the first time in over a year and this woman who met Madison my daughter for the first time! Had told me this!

Madison began receiving feeding therapy through Westchester-Putnam, TheraTeam. Through observation, it has been noted that Madison presents with a short lingual frenulum and should be evaluated for a potential release with a laser dentist/ ENT who specializes in frenectomies. From a feeding therapy standpoint, Madison has restricted lingual range of motion (lingual lateralizations are reduced) which could be negatively impacting her ability to successfully manipulate highly textured food items. 

my 10-year-old daughter right now only eats Ritz crackers and goldfish and two bottles of Pedisure per her doctor. There has been no improvements with her Feeding Therapy or speech since she was a baby. As you can see, It can successfully manipulate highly textured food items this laser surgery I think is what she needs to correct her tongue and I’m just asking for some help for our the consultation, the aftercare, possibly a feeding tube and to have her have the surgery to correct short lingual frenulum!

I’ve gone beyond and above to try to help my daughter, also her mentor from St Christopher’s Inc out of Dobbs Ferry overcome her feeding issues which she is very sensory based! I just found this information out maybe about two weeks ago we have the first consultation on August 8th!

If anybody could just help out with a dollar or whatever you contribute to correct this for my daughter, who is nutrition is not great at all! Unfortunately, the insurance that we do have does not cover any costs! I’m asking anybody to help my daughter out would be greatly appreciated! My daughter really needs this surgery! Again thank you all! 

It’s just absolutely mind blowing that the 10 years she’s seen therapists not one of them in 10 years have noticed this and my emotions are all over the place
