Continued Support for Katie & Cat

during cancer treatment.

In late January 2022, our entire lives were uprooted after a visit to urgent care; we discovered Kaite had a mass on her chest wall, her third reoccurrence of metastatic colon cancer. In March, we moved from Orcas to Everett to be closer to treatment in Seattle. We started off with three weeks of radiation followed by 8 brutal months of chemo.

Very recently, a CT scan presented troublesome results. The new course of action best suited for Katie is three more weeks of radiation (every dang day) followed by more chemo.

During all this re-re-diagnosis madness, one critical factor in our daily lives for us to feel a "slight sense of normalcy" & provide any outlet from all this cancer stuff was for me to find a part-time job. We all know there is no sense of anything normal about working in the restaurant industry (why we love it). So about 5 months ago, I took a job at Spark Pizza in Redmond, a restaurant that stood out to me. The stories of hustling in that pizza kitchen all weekend gave Katie & I so much comfort and enjoyment. We really do wish I could keep on slinging pies, but the upcoming cancer care-related appointments, treatments & even more appointments will start to take up a better majority of our time. My duties as her care companion & wife have expanded, and sadly I had to give notice.

We thank our lucky stars and send gratitude to everyone who previously donated & sent love; you helped us establish solid ground under our feet during a really scary time. The upcoming months will present us with new realities & obstacles. Our monthly expenses will be covered for 6 months if we reach our goal. Together, we will carry the burden of cancer and stress/worry less about our monthly expenses while focusing on Katie's quality of life.
