Contribute to a Memorial for Katie Bell
Donation protected
Recently, I was walking my dog, Luna, in the park (Father Hennepin Bluff Park) across the street from where my Mom and I live, next to the Mississippi River and overlooking downtown Minneapolis. My mom and I both like to sit on benches with Luna and just hang out. One day I noticed a plaque on a bench that was in Memory of someone and a lightbulb went off.
Katie loved living downtown. Her goal for many years was to live in her friend Mike Zechmeister's condo (which happened to be across the street from where I lived at the time). I'm so thrilled she was able to live there for a few years, although we fully expected it to be for many more. I found a bench on the other side of the river (NE end of the Stone Arch Bridge) with a great view of downtown and the ability to just watch the world go by.
While normally we would just pay for this ourselves, I know that many people would like the opportunity to contribute to something like this. (This is going to be a surprise for our mom!)
If you are interested, here is how it will work:
If we get $2500, we get the bench for 10 years
If we get $4000, we get the bench for 20 years
If we get $5500, we get the bench for 30 years
When the time is going to expire, we get first right of refusal to extend.
I'll need to pay this week but it probably won't get done until next spring.
We'll do a dedication next summer and try to give plenty of notice.
