Contribute to Joel Garcia's Funeral Costs

(Unfortunately Joel passed away today on August 10 in the morning, after fighting so long he has finally been able to get rest) Our Brother/Son, Joel Garcia, was diagnosed with leukemia in April 2021 and has been fighting it for almost 4 years to the current date, August 2024. Throughout the journey of Joel’s battle with cancer, there have been many ups and downs, but through all that, there was not one time Joel has given up and has always put up a fight. Even now, after he was told there was nothing else they could do for him and that there was a tumor growing in his brain. Even after hearing the news, he cried for a little bit but told my mother he was going out fighting.

Joel's story starts off one week after his 16th birthday, where he was diagnosed with cancer. While getting treatment in Atlanta, Joel was fighting his hardest, inspiring people around him and even us, his family, showing us amazing tenacity. But life has not always been easy for Joel. Throughout his years fighting, he has suffered a lot, including getting meningitis in the brain and being paralyzed from the waist down. But with all this happening to him, he had not once let any of that get to him.

Growing up as the youngest child, Joel has only ever had help from his brother and his single mother. While being in the hospital, his mother has not been able to work for almost 4 years now. After fighting for so long, tragically, Joel was told that he was dying and there was nothing they could do for him. That is why as his brother and mother, we are making this GoFundMe to help with the expenses of his funeral as we don’t have anyone else to turn to for help.
