Contributions for Mary Angel Fisher's Farewell

Donation protected
On behalf of our esteemed mother, dear friend, and truly remarkable soul, we express our profound sorrow at the passing of our cherished Mary Angel Fisher.

At the age of 93, our beloved mother was a beacon of light, a testament to God's grace, and she was adored by the multitude of people she leaves behind. Her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, godchildren, cousins, friends, neighbors, medical team, and even those who only knew her through social media, pictures, and stories shared by her family. Her love for life, her unique personality, infectious smile, sharp sense of humor, strength, courage, talent, style, and unwavering commitment to family and loved ones were truly extraordinary. She effortlessly became everyone's best friend and the life of every family gathering, bringing laughter and joy to hearts even through a simple introduction or brief conversation. From lindy hop to ballroom dancing, from the classic oldies of the 50s, 60s, and 70s to country, soul, and even hip hop, she transcended time and adapted to every era. Our mother also found great joy in sports, including her support for the New England Patriots (especially Tom Brady), the Boston Red Sox (Big Papi), Pawtucket Red Sox, Boston Celtics, tennis, and golf. She would often attend the Patriots Training Camps and proudly wore football jerseys of her favorite players, such as Tom Brady, Julian Edelman, and Rob Gronkowski.

As a single mother for many years, she faced numerous hardships, overcame many family losses, and battled various health crises, including cancer. Despite the unfortunate reality of poverty, she ensured that her family never went hungry, dressing them well and providing care as if financial constraints were never an issue. Growing up in a challenging neighborhood, she acted as a protector, a hard worker, provider, disciplinarian, homemaker, and maintained an impeccably organized and clean home. She took great pleasure in tending to her yard with plants, flowers, and meticulously maintaining the landscaping around her apartment, treating it as if it were her own property. At any age, she was able maintain car mechanics and could change a tire without hesitation or assistance. Even at 89, she still drove, and at the age of 90, she climbed part of Mount Cannon in New Hampshire, walking over 1,500 steps to the peak while wearing sandals. At that age, she could walk up to two miles and continued to live independently in a two-story apartment where she raised her family. She cooked, cleaned, rearranged furniture, changed window curtains, and often climbed on chairs or stood on the back of the couch to reach high places. During the hot summer months, she would single-handedly install her air conditioners despite being advised not to. She was an incredibly strong, determined, and resolute woman. She cherished life and wanted to experience and enjoy it with her family and friends for as long as possible. She adored all the seasons in Rhode Island and New England, eagerly decorating for each one, with a special love for Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter, and the Fourth of July. She was a devout Catholic throughout her life, and in her later years, she deepened her relationship and devotion to Jesus, especially after her battle with breast cancer. Following her recovery, she remained cancer-free. She attended St. Theresa's Parish in Pawtucket, RI, and occasionally visited Faith Christian Center in Seekonk, MA.

Regrettably, during the latter part of the COVID-19 pandemic, on May 17th, 2022, our mother suffered a severe stroke. The doctors held little hope for her survival beyond the first day, let alone nearly two additional years. The stroke left her paralyzed on one side of her body, requiring a tracheostomy, a feeding tube, and resulting in multiple bouts of pneumonia. Despite her ongoing battles, mom persevered through each battle and even made noticeable progress in the first year and was eventually able to display her infectious smile, put her glasses, read greeting cards, place blocks in a cube game, sip water, make attempts to speak, try to get up from her wheelchair, climb out of her bed, fold clothes with one hand, began to use crayons, place stickers, shake hands, give "daps" and even throw up the peace sign..!

Sadly, during the past few weeks, her health declined due to various infections and new adverse conditions. Despite fighting until her final breath, our mother's heart suddenly stopped on May 1st, at 7:21 a.m. Although she lived a long and fulfilling life, her departure has left an irreplaceable void in our hearts. We will deeply, deeply miss her.

To provide our beloved with the dignified burial and farewell services she deserves, we would like to take this moment to give her family, friends, and those who loved our mother from afar, the opportunity to contribute to her home-going and funeral services with a donation of any amount. In addition to donations, your prayers, love, and support are profoundly appreciated and deeply felt by our family and all those she leaves behind.
