Cookie is chopping the red dreads for Adenomyosis

The big day is finally here. Its time for me to cut the dreads of 15 years but I'm not giving them away easily. I am doing it to raise funds and awareness of Adenomyosis. All funds will be donated to Jean Hailes to help continue their incredible work.

Jean Hailes for Women's Health is a national not-for-profit organisation dedicated to improving women's health across Australia through every life stage.

What is Adenomyosis?
Adenomyosis is a condition of the uterus (womb) where the cells similar to the lining on the inside of the uterus are also present in the muscle wall of the uterus. It causes heavy and ongoing periods, anemia, and can lead to chronic and debilitating pelvic pain. One study estimated that about 1 in 5 women have this condition.

Why Adenomyosis?
This cause is close to my heart, as Brooke, my wife, was diagnosed in 2020 after the birth of our daughter Florence.
On 20 April, this year, we welcomed Julian.
On 14 July 2022 Brooke had a total hysterectomy (leaving her ovaries) as this is currently the only known cure for the condition.
So that's why im cutting off my firey red dreads of 15 years. Its been a long haul without a hair cut and the dreads seem to be part of the furniture now. However, Its time to raise some funds and to start the conversation about Adenomyosis.
