Food Co-op Equipment Fundraiser
Donation protected
Commercial equipment is not cheap to fix and even more expensive to replace. Therefore, with gratitude, we humbly ask our community of member-owners, shoppers, admirers, vendors, friends, family, and other dear ones to financially give a little or a lot to our crowdfunding campaign.
Don't want to donate online? Feel free to send or bring in a check written to Fort Collins Food Cooperative, 250 E. Mountain Avenue, Fort Collins, CO 80524. Or drop some dollars in the donation box by our register!
Did you know that our little food cooperative has been around for 50 years?! Yes, we are the original health food store, the original zero-waste/bulk shopping experience, plus we are friendly, fun, creative, and NOT your average grocery store.
50 years is a long time to serve the Fort Collins community that we love. It is also a long time for some of our beloved equipment to be functioning properly (or at all). With the extreme heat this summer, our hardworking staff has experienced equipment issue after equipment issue with our freezers, drink cooler, deli cooler, hot water heater, air conditioner, walk-in and more.
For those of you who have been part of our community since the 2018 remodel may be wondering why we only replaced some of our equipment. The answer is simple: we could only get some much money from our lender. We decided to prioritize the utility of the sales floor at the time to optimize the cooperative experience for our customers/members.

However with the increase in corporate grocery stores in Fort Collins, our most lovely and little food cooperative has continuously seen a decline in sales over the last few years. Decreased sales plus increased equipment expenses means tumble weeds blowing through our bank accounts. It has been impossible to pay our staff a living wage, let alone replace and fix all this equipment. The last decade has shown food cooperatives across the nation are experiencing the same.
However, with our deep faith in the cooperative model, we know our beloved community of member-owners and "not-yet-member-owners" alike will help us keep our doors open and our equipment running.
Mountain Avenue Market is one of three remaining food cooperatives in Colorado. We are the most colorful, conscious, creative, friendly, fun, radical grocery store in Fort Collins. We are one of the very few cooperatively-owned and cooperatively-managed entities in the area. Our food cooperative has history, our food cooperative has soul. As a community-owned and supported space, we know our community will continue to lift this little store and community space up and ensure it is around for another 50 years.
Because we are not a 501c3 nonprofit, donations are not tax deductible.
