Carla's Gender Confirmation Surgery
For those that do not know me, I am a 45 year old software developer, transsexual woman, father of two adult children, grandmother of three, wife of a smoking hot goddess, full time student, transgender activist, Air Force veteran, and occasionally I'm a decent person. I will have a beer with you.
I've spent the btter part of the last decade as an advocate for transgender equality through education, activism, protests, speaking engagements, founding or leading community organizations, and legislative lobbying. I will not stop pushing for equality until it is achieved.
Understand, when I started my transition in 1999, surgery was my goal. Somewhere along the way raising children and paying a mortgage took precedence and with dismay, I accepted I would never have the financial means to finish my transition.
Recently, I have learned that my company's insurance policy now covers transition surgery. However, with a deductible of $3000, 20% coinsurance, travel and lodging, and unpaid time off from work, I think I can get by with less than $10,000.
