** UPDATE**

So as most of you know, Steve has yet to leave the hospital after his accident. After several setbacks and several close calls with death, Steve is in the rehab unit at Mercy Hospital. He continues to have major issues with memory, temperament, and basic physical function . Steve is blind in both eyes and paralyzed on his left side to name a few... He will need around-the-clock care and supervision upon his exit from the hospital. The hospital has done its job to stabilize Steve and make sure that he is still with us , for which we are thankful!
Despite the fact that Steve is medically stable, everything about his life has changed. The only thing that has not changed is the love and support of his devoted wife, family and dear friends. At the end of this month, he is due to transition to a skilled nursing facility. The cost of the skilled nursing facility is only being partially covered by insurance. Michelle has been by her husbands side every single day since the accident. With the loss of his income and insurmountable medical bills, she cannot cover the cost of his rehab, nor can she bring him home. At this time, they live in a townhouse style home with many steps/multiple levels. Michelle will be looking to sell her home and rent a single level dwelling so that she can bring her husband home. We all know, this is extremely difficult to accomplish quickly, given several factors. Michele continues to work daily to cover bills, spend every day at the hospital advocating for Steve and perform basic routine tasks to keep her household running. Please consider continuing to donate. I know Michelle would never ask for help, but she needs it now more than ever. For those of you that have already donated, thank you. Your support means the world to her and Steve.

Hi, my name is Stephaney and I am fundraising for Steve and Michelle Copeland. Michelle and I have been dear friends for over 12 years. She is not just my best friend, she is my "sister from another mister". Michelle had waited her whole life to find her soulmate Steve. On August 6, 2021 Steve and Michelle were married and began their happily ever after. Together, they live with their kids Nick, Kayden and fur baby, Roxy in a suburb of Pittsburgh.

On Wednesday, February 8, 2023 their fairytale was shaken to the core. Steve was in a horrible car accident, hitting a tree head-on and being life-flighted to UPMC Presbyterian Hospital. Steve has sustained several serious orthotic injuries. Most emergent, he remains intubated, in a sedative state as a result of suffering a massive stroke after a blood clot traveled to his brain after damage was found to an artery in his neck due to the impact. The extent of damage is unknown at this time but it is known to be life-altering.

Steve is an incredibly kind, honest and hardworking man. He works as a pipeline welding inspector. He has always taken pride in taking care of his family. Unfortunately, at this time, we have no idea how long recovery will take or what it will look like. What we do know, Steve has a very long road ahead of him full of uncertainty. Simply put, if Steve does not work, he does not get paid.

If you would like to assist with their financial burden, any donation would be greatly appreciated. All funds raised will go directly to Steve's medical costs and related travel and living expenses for Michelle and their kids.

On behalf of Steve and Michelle, their closest friends and the entire Copeland family, I appreciate the outpouring of love, prayers and support shown over the past few days and undoubtedly, in the months to come.

Thank you so much.
