Copper's Disc Surgery

Hello friends and family,

I would like to start off by saying that I have a very difficult time asking for help. My little guy Copper and our family could use some help at this difficult time.

Copper, our 1 1/2 year old dog started acting strangely on Saturday. I heard a yelp come from the living room and found Copper crouched down having neck spasms. I wasn't sure what happened, but knew he was in pain. About 15 minutes later and some peanut butter persuasion, he seemed ok.

Sunday morning he had another episode with spasms, urinating, and yelping. I felt helpless as he laid in lap. I brought him to an emergency vet in Woburn, where they did not have a neurologist on staff that day (even though they told me on the phone they did) so they sent us home with pain meds. He continued to have episodes more frequently that evening, I knew I'd have to bring him in to see a neurologist that next day.

Monday, I brought him to Angell's in Boston, MSPCA, highly recommended by family, friends, and local vets.

There, they had hope that his neck injury could be managed with meds and heal over time where they have kept watch over him.

After taking him off pain meds overnight last night, I was told that he's not doing any better and will require an MRI tomorrow, then surgery to correct or remove a slipped or ruptured disc. The neurologist said the surgery will cost approximately 14k, but will make him feel 90-100% pain free and himself again. 

Never in my wildest dreams did I think this could happen to our only 1 1/2 year old dog, Copper. If there is anything you could do to help, it would be greatly appreciated.
