CORDED 9 runs marathons for Chunga Primary School

Op CORDED 9 is the fourth British Army counter-poaching deployment to Zambia. The 1st Battalion Welsh Guards lead this deployment with representation from many other British Army units.
In addition to delivering counter-poaching assistance to the Zambian Department of National Parks and Wildlife, the CORDED 9 team hope to support the local community how they can.
With this in mind, four of the Op CORDED 9 team and two Zambian Wildlife Police Officers will run one marathon each in under 24hrs, starting on the evening of Mon 23 May 22. The total distance that will be run between the participants in 24hrs will be six marathons, eqauting to 253.17km. This event will take place inside Lusaka National Park, one of Zambia's smaller national parks on the outskirts of Lusaka.
Chunga Primary School is located just outside of the Kafue National Park in Western Zambia. The National Park is larger than Wales in size yet does not have sufficient manpower to effectively police poaching and other illegal activities. The school educates children, many of whose parents dedicate themselves to the preservation of Kafue National Park.
All funds raised will directly support Chunga Primary School to provide the best facilities for its young students. The most immediate requirement is a new solar-powered battery charging system to provide electricity for the school. The school currently struggles to run off a diesel-powered generator which is too expensive to run throughout the day and is prone to mechanical issues.
Any funds will be greatly appreciated by both the CORDED 9 team and of course those at the Chunga Primary School.
