Corey Brown Motorcycle Accident

Donation protected
My dad was in an offroad motorcycle accident on Saturday night that landed him in the emergency room. His list of injuries is long (see below), and as a small business owner, he is the sole provider for my mom and brother. They have medical bills piling up, along with medical supplies/equipment needed for him to come home and many dr appointments in the coming days as he heals. If you can donate, I know they'd really appreciate it and, in the future, will most definitely pay it forward.

My mom's updates off social media:

07.30.23 (middle of the night)- Say a little prayer for Corey if you can. He was in an off-road motorcycle accident yesterday and is currently in the hospital, stable but in rough shape while waiting to see if he needs emergency surgery for internal bleeding. His list of injuries is growing by the hour (including a grade 4 splenic laceration as well as pulmonary contusion and likely internal derangement of left shoulder but no acute fracture or dislocation on x-rays. Multiple abrasions and numerous broken ribs. Possible fractured knee cap and hypoinflated lungs. But he's conscious, never lost consciousness, breathing on his own, and heavily medicated due to pain. He will be there for a minimum of a few days while they keep a close eye on him. Send healing vibes his way.

07.30.23 AM Update:::: Surgeon is happy with Corey's vitals, but they are going to monitor him for a couple more days. It's day-by-day decisions as to whether he will need surgery for his spleen; apparently, this type of injury can easily reopen-which is their biggest worry right now. No broken ribs, just deeply bruised, bruised lung, bruised shoulder, slightly broken knee cap, concussion, spleen, and lotsa road rash. So overall better. Just managing his pain and sleeping a lot. We appreciate your prayers. He's going to have a painful few months, I suspect.

07.30.23 PM Update:::: - It's now 24 hours after the accident & his vitals are still good. He's still in & out of sleep from the heavy meds & in a lot of pain, but so far, no surgery. He's been talking, but it hurts to breathe or laugh or move, so not much lively conversations. He has had a hint of a fever tonight, & his blood work is still showing internal bleeding, but hopefully, it's slowing.

07.31.23 AM Update:::: his abdomen/chest pain has increased overnight & they've had a hard time managing it-but they are trying. He is exhausted and not wanting to do much talking (or anything else) through the pain. The surgeon will be in to discuss things later today. They've had a difficult time deciding all his injuries. But the spleen was upped to a level 5 laceration (more than 50% damaged- multiple lacerations-possible complete rupture, blood in abdomen & pelvis, 2 fractured ribs (both still in place), severely bruised lung, somewhat damaged kidney, and lastly, a broken knee cap. He can walk with the assistance of a walker. Blood tests show he's still bleeding internally, not massively, and I wouldn't be surprised if he goes in for another CT today with the increased pain.

07.31.23 PM Update::: He was in a lot of pain today. He's not enjoying physical therapy while in the hospital but is powering through it. The surgeon feels his spleen, though partially shattered, will make a complete recovery (without removal). His left leg has been bandaged in almost a thigh-to-toe 'cast.' I learned how to change the bandages at home, but this will also require weekly visits to the doctor to monitor. He can walk with a walker, slowly, and using the bathroom is an adventure that now takes two. (He can't even wipe his own butt, y'all. LOL, gotta find the humor somewhere here, or I'll lose my mind.) But he is slowly making a recovery, and his vitals are strong.
But, oh, boy-today contained a lot of information and learning to nurse him back to health. We were told today it will be months before Corey can work full-time again. He'll be able to supervise scheduled work starting mid-September but won't be doing the work himself. He will be going home later this week without needing surgery (yay! small victories!), so he will be keeping his spleen. But it will take many, many weeks to heal. We've got medical equipment to buy (walker, bathroom safety stuff, a LOT of medication, etc.), and bills are piling up already. Please keep praying that he will make a full recovery quickly so he can get back to life (maybe not motorcycles... but normal life).
Will update again tomorrow.

I will continue to post her updates here so they're all in one place. Thank you so much for donating to my family in their time of need! We appreciate each and every one of you.
