Corey Fraser needs your help!

As many of you have heard, Corey had a horrible accident while playing rugby back in July. His eye was injured so significantly that the origional prognosis was that he might likely lose the eye entirely. Then, he was told that he is unlikey to ever see out of that eye again.

He has already endured several procedures, involving over 20 stitches around different parts of the eyeball, just to close the wound. During the emergency, the lens literally fell out - yes, that lens, which allows us to focus, so we can see! Surgeries are scheduled to replace the lens with a synthetic one.

The next challenge he's facing is that the iris (colourful portion surrounding the pupil) had detached in the accident. This couldn't be fixed in the emergency surgery, so it remains folded over, and dead, and still in his eye.

Corey will need multiple sugeries with hopes of regaining partial sight in this eye. Return to 100% vision is unlikely in that eye, but we wont actually know how good his vision will be until all the surgeries are done. Specialist are very optimistic about potential for significant improvments in his eyesight, if he gets all the medical help that he needs.

Although Corey's own iris can't be saved , there is another option. They could put a synthetic one in, that would be an exact match to his good eye. The problem is that a synthetic iris cost's $10,000.00 and is NOT covered by OHIP, or by insurance.
