Dear Coworkers, SPEA Members, and Friends of Corey Witkowski,
Please consider contributing to SPEA’s GoFundMe campaign to support the family of our dear friend and colleague Corey Witkowski. Corey died to due an aggressive infection on August 5th after a brief hospital stay. Corey was just 42 years old.
Corey has been a member of the SPEA Executive since 2012. He was a fierce and tireless defender of employee rights, especially for the techs, who he represented as Vice-President. Corey was a key member of the negotiation committee for the SE and TT collective agreements in 2016-2017. He put in countless hours to protect and promote the rights of his colleagues at Candu.
Corey was also a valued employee of AECL and Candu. Corey worked as an electrical and controls technologist in field services and was recently promoted to a senior position. Corey will be deeply missed by his SPEA and Candu colleagues.
Corey will also be missed by his numerous friends who will remember good times spent at cottages, barbecues, and many other adventures.
Corey was always quick to joke, to smile and to embrace life. He will be sorely missed, most especially by his wife and young daughters. Corey was a devoted husband and father. The love Corey felt for his wife, Amanda and his daughters McKenzie (aged 8) and Madison (aged 5), was apparent to all who knew him.
Corey was the main breadwinner in his family. SPEA is setting up this GoFundMe page in honour of our dear friend and colleague, to help support his family’s financial needs. We appreciate any and all donations.
