Ramirez Family Loses Another Child

An unimaginable tragedy has fallen on the Ramirez family, and we, their friends and extended family, want to bless them and help them financially as best we can. Eight years ago, Donna and Randy Ramirez lost their precious 19-year-old daughter Sydney after battling cancer for two years. The family was devastated and accumulated over a million dollars in medical expenses. With the help of Candle Lighters of Brevard and friends and family, they made it through and continued life with their two other children, Kelsey and Corey, and their granddaughter Mia, Sydney’s daughter, who was born before Sydney had passed.

Then the unthinkable happened...

On November 14, 2022, their 20-year-old son Corey was at home and lost consciousness - after calling 9-1-1, he was rushed to Viera hospital, then air-lifted to Holmes Regional hospital later that night. Despite the hospital’s best efforts, Corey was pronounced dead at 5:45 pm on November 15 due to a brain hemorrhage with his family and friends at his side. Corey became an organ donor, and was compatible with over 70 recipients. Even after this tragedy he was able to keep blessing others.

No family should suffer the loss of a child, but losing a second child is unbearable. Corey was a gifted musician who was to attend FSU with a full music scholarship. He helped many aspiring musicians and friends by giving them lessons and participating in music events. Corey had the biggest heart and was admired and loved by everyone he met. This loss was a complete shock to everyone; no one was prepared to lose such a unique and kind human being.

We pray that God will give them the strength to get through this challenging time - they are a wonderful family and don't deserve this tragedy.
