In memory of Cori McLean

On Wednesday February 7th, our beautiful Cori left this earth. Cori Lynn McLean was turning 43 this month and didn’t know she had a heart condition. Cori was a mother of two teenagers, Annastasia and Triton and stepmom to Maya. She fought hard for all of them but especially for Triton as he has autism. The children are all struggling to understand this loss. For the last 10 years Cori and DJ built a life together and planned to be married this Halloween, her favourite time of year. Cori was the happiest I’ve ever seen her in the 30 years we’ve been friends. Cori and DJ worked hard to build a life they loved and could be proud of. DJ spent his savings to send Cori back to school. She loved to help people whether it was giving advice or filling their fridge. Cori was very passionate about the less fortunate. Her dream was to open her own facility. So she had taken on employment working at a harm reduction facility for homeless and trafficked women at night. She would treat the women like family members she would bake with them talk to them and give them a hug when they felt lonely and alone. She would go as far as using her own money and food. from her home to ensure that these women had something to eat and arrived safe each night. These women respected her so much they always came back because they didnt wanna let "ms Cori down" .
She was a giver and loved to see other people happy and succeed. DJ stood by her and supported all of her dreams, often working extra hours and taking on extra work. She was his world and now he is shattered. DJ has taken on the responsibility of being a single dad to the children. The financial strain is now solely on him and we are praying for some relief. Cori also bought her very first “new to her” vehicle and unfortunately the loan will continue. Cori was so proud of that accomplishment and after years of not having something of her own, DJ and the children want to honor her wishes and pay off the jeep. We know DJ will work extra hours and do whatever it takes to pay that and also provide for the family but this has taken a huge toll on him and he needs our help. Every little bit helps and we are so thankful for any amount you are able to donate. Please share this post and if you’re the praying type, please pray for this family as they learn to navigate this world without their anchor.
If you all know DJ he is not one to ask for help. We have decided to help him the best way we can by helping to relieve some financial stress while they try to heal as a family.
