Corinne's Crusade Against Cancer
Donation protected
This is a GoFundMe page for our dear friend, Corinne Dixon.
Corinne has faced so much adversity in her life, yet not only has she shown courage and tremendous resiliency in overcoming these situations beyond her control, throughout it all she had never lost faith in humanity, her sense of humor and her joy for life.
Corinne is 41 years old. She lost both of her parents to tragic circumstances at a young age. Her father passed of lung cancer and her mother of HIV. She has four sisters and many nieces and nephews. As much as she loves children, she
Is unable to have any of her own. So, she extends that love to not only her nieces and nephews, but to the teens she works with at her job as a therapeutic support staff member. She teaches the troubled youth life skills and provides them a mentoring relationship that is so desperately needed in their lives.
Not only does she work her 40 hour week with these kids, she typically puts in 20-32 hours overtime each week in order to ensure their needs are being met.
If Corinne doesn’t already sound busy enough, she also volunteers in her community with the youth she works with. She teaches them about the importance of paying it forward.
As you can see, Corinne lives her life to serve others. She has taken her negative life experiences and instead of being bitter, has turned to help others. Corinne's spirit will never be vanquished even though the challenges that she is facing right now seem insurmountable. She also continues to go above and beyond to make a difference in others’ lives.
Unfortunately, Corinne has been recently diagnosed with Stage 2 Breast Cancer. This will require her to undergo a double mastectomy and breast reconstruction surgery. As a result, she will be out of work for at least 6 weeks. More than likely, it will be longer due to the extensive recovery process. She is afraid of losing her home and not being able to pay her bills. As you are aware, jobs that are in the public service sector rarely have great salaries. So, Corinne does not have money to fall back on.
We want to provide Corinne with peace of mind during this time.
The next several months will be very taxing emotionally, physically and financially.
She does not need the added stress of these bills looming over her, as she fights against cancer.
Please consider supporting this selfless woman as she faces this difficult time. Any amount will be highly appreciated.
Thank you so much for your support and encouragement in helping our friend.
