To help local people
My Dad David and I plan to cycle the length of Ireland, from Cork to the Giant’s Causeway in early September 2021 to raise funds for John Nicholl to complete the purchase of a Braille computer.
Ballymoney’s John Nicholl has been a patient of mine in John Laverty Optometrists for many years. He is both deaf and blind and this sophisticated piece of equipment will make an enormous difference to John’s ability to communicate with the outside world. John is a GB Visually Impaired Archer and was voted sports person of the year in the Causeway Coast and Glens People Awards.
My Dad and some others cycle regularly with John on a tandem around the local area so we thought we would do a monster cycling challenge to try to get this purchase over the line.
The adventure will also raise funds for Coleraine & District Samaritans where David is the current Director. Samaritans have an amazing impact on its callers. It is non-judgmental, treats every caller the same and provides a service, which at times can be the difference between life and death.
