Cornish Black Bee Conservation & Education
Donation protected
Hi, Our names our Nigel and Brian. We've been caring for our native bees for many years now. We spend a lot of our time voluntarily running a selection of bee hives in West Cornwall.
We're here to ask for donations to help the cause by allowing us to continue and expand our work.
We've identified some sites to be able to expand the number of hives we operate and have been offered some space locally to create a new educational facility. With this, we will be able to invite small groups from the local community and beyond, particularly children and get them up close to the bees. We'll be able to demonstrate their vast importance to the world, particularly in the food chain in a safe, fun and interesting environment. We'd love to install a glass-fronted hive so that those interested can really see inside and get to know how fascinating the work of these vital pollinators is.
We also hope to offer our visitors the opportunity to learn about other aspects of bee-keeping and creating sustainable items from the by-products of the process, for example, candle making, re-usable food wraps, etc.
The sites involved are already under the supervision of the Cornwall Wildlife Trust. Our bee project fits in well and has their full support. We are both fully qualified bee-keepers and affiliated members of the national bee-keepers association.
Your donation will ensure the continuation and expansion of our excellent work and also help with essential education of the next generation about how important it is to maintain the bee population, particularly in these times of hardship and food supply issues.
Thank you very much for your support.
