Sonny is Rowing to Fundraise for COVID-19 Relief in Vietnam!
THE EVENT: Planet earth is struggling right now, and we all feel its effects. The Best Ever Food Review Show team has found a way to raise your spirits, while also raising money for Vietnam’s COVID-19 relief efforts! We’re putting Sonny on the most intense workout experience of his life, rowing live on YouTube while encouraging viewers to donate to help combat the impact COVID-19 has had on the local Vietnamese community. The more donations received, the more Sonny must row. The livestream event will take place on Saturday, May 16, 2020.
THE RULES: For every $1 donated, Sonny must row 5 meters. Our goal? Make him row 100,000 meters to raise $20,000. Just how much rowing is 100,000 meters? That’s like rowing two back to back full marathons and then deciding to add on 10 more miles. That’s like rowing from earth to outer space. That’s like rowing across the English Channel 3 times. That’s like rowing 10 times around Central Park. It’s a lot of rowing. About 12 hours of rowing, to be exact.
THE CHARITIES: 100% of the proceeds raised will be donated to the following local charities:
1. Vietnam Young Physicians’ Association (VYPA)
VYPA’s mission is to provide medical relief, assistance, medicine and equipment to people working at the front-line in hospitals all over Vietnam. Young physicians across Vietnam have been called to support the country’s COVID-19 efforts since the very beginning of this pandemic and now, more than ever, need all the help they can get to carry out their mission. The association has been in operation for 11 years and now has over 80,000 members across Vietnam!
